The Posttraumatic se creó porque leer un periódico físico, con un café y un cigarro (si fumas) es un placer. Es un placer que a los cinco minutos se convierte en rabia y depresión al ver que el mundo es, como mínimo, un completo desastre. A partir del hartazgo depresivo que subyace la lectura de un periódico convencional, decidimos proponer una alternativa.
En The Posttraumatic encontrarás todos los apartados del periódico convencional; Internacional, Sociedad, Deportes, Obituarios, el tiempo... pero el contenido está creado por artistas. Artistas conceptuales que van a caballo entre el humor ácido, la ironía, la reflexión filosófica/política y el absurdo. Una macedonia de interpretaciones raras con el objetivo de reflexionar sobre como consumimos y transmitimos la información. Si aún no te ha quedado claro se debe a que nosotros tampoco estamos seguros de lo que es The Posttraumatic. La mejor explicación es que te suscribas y saques tus propias conclusiones. ¿Por qué un periódico? Creemos que el periódico es un vínculo importante entre nuestra realidad social y el individuo que vive en ella. Porque es un elemento imprescindible para la comunicación y porque su contenido es, casi siempre, un puto drama.
Cuando Ulrich Beck, un señor leído, nos asegura que “Los medios de comunicación no responden a la inspiración de la ilustración sino a la del mercado y el capital” solo nos queda leer los artículos con el ceño fruncido, desconfiados y desarmados. Se nos confunde a voluntad del Tio Sam de turno y nos dedicamos a consumir sus palabras como si fueran churros con cocaína para engordar una opinión que solo sirve para enfrentarse al vecino en una sobremesa. No sabemos si la información que tragamos es inventada, comprada, si son recortes del rincón del vago o si se trata de una verdad objetiva, absoluta, infinita y/o perfecta.
El periódico es un objeto muy común a nuestro alrededor que necesita ser revisado y, The Posttraumatic, aunque no pretenda ser el ideal, se ha propuesto como aire fresco.
A partir de estas bases fatalistas, dramáticas y un tanto depresivas sobre la información y su consumo, se contactó con 39 artistas y se les otorgó un espacio a cada uno, con aspecto de artículo, para que hicieran lo que les diera la gana con ellos. No se ha pretendido generar ningún discurso ideológico concreto y no viene ninguna bandera de regalo.
El concepto del periódico nos ha servido como punto de partida pero no sabríamos definir el objeto resultante. Cualquier descripción podría parecer reduccionista, por lo que nos vamos a limitar a decir que es el resultado de un experimento y, aunque la descripción flojee, es la única que nos atrevemos a dar.

The Posttraumatic was created because reading a physical newspaper, with a coffee and a cigarette (if you smoke) is a pleasure. It is a pleasure that five minutes later turns into rage and depression when seeing that the world is, at the very least, a complete mess. Starting from the depressive tiredness that underlies reading a conventional newspaper, we decided to propose an alternative.
In The Posttraumatic you will find all the sections of the conventional newspaper; International, Society, Sports, Obituaries, the weather... but the content is created by artists. Conceptual artists who straddle acid humor, irony, philosophical/political reflection and the absurd. A fruit salad of rare interpretations with the aim of reflecting on how we consume and transmit information. If it is still not clear to you, it is because we are not sure what The Posttraumatic is either. The best explanation is that you subscribe and draw your own conclusions. Thanks in advance. :)
Why a newspaper? We believe that a newspaper is an important link between our social reality and the individuals who live in it, because it is an essential communication element and because its content is a fucking drama almost always.
When Ulrich Beck, a literate man, assures us that “the media does not respond to the inspiration of the enlightenment but to that of the market and capital” we can only read the news with a distrustful and defenseless frown. Uncle Sam manipulates us to his likings and we satisfy our appetites by feasting on his words as if they were cocaine-coated cookies that only serve to fatten the need to win over arguments at our neighbor’s dinner-table conversations. We do not know if the information we swallow is invented, bought, if they are news clippings curated by a 4channer’s paranoid imagination, or if it is an objective, absolute, eternal truth.
The newspaper is a very common object around us that needs to be reviewed and, the one that you have in your hands, although it does not pretend to be ideal, intends to be a breath of fresh air.
Based on these fatalistic, dramatic and somewhat depressing theories on news and their consumption, 39 artists were contacted and each one was granted with a space, a sort of an article, to do whatever they wanted with it. It has not been intended to generate any specific ideological discourse and there is no gift flag.
The concept of the newspaper has served us as a starting point but we don’t know if we would know how to define the result. Any description could seem reductionist, so we are going to limit ourselves to saying that it is the outcome of an experiment and, although this description is unsatisfying, it is the only one that we dare to give.
